as long as they are fairly well developed inside they should be ok for continued curing. it's when they're green and soft that they usually don't improve off the vine. i think the stem is a good indicator of how far along they are, if the stem is pretty hard and mostly dry they're as done as...
i didn't expect to get out and pick beans but the weather was really nice and i wanted to do something even if it meant walking around in muddy shoes.
i have flats of beans out in the sun and breeze drying them off as much as possible before i bring them in later.
@ducks4you any garlic that grew this year if left in the ground should be ok for next season, but it will be a clump of bulbs and most of them are likely to be smaller. after several years what you will have is a larger clump of garlic (as long as it doesn't get overgrown by something else and...
i went to put something in the cup to warm it up in the microwave this morning and missed the cup by half. so that was the start of my day... :) coordinated i was not...
we are on opposite schedules again. last night about 3am some emergency vehicle came through with sirens blaring. like...
i read the description and noted the point about boiling them simply because they have a delicate flavor. i do that for almost all of my dry beans because i enjoy their unique flavors and don't like to mask them by putting in a lot of other ingredients. most of the time something simple like...

i know it is wonderful to get going on shelling beans. i've not had as much time in recent weeks as i would normally have but here or there i squeeze in a few because it really is my favorite time of the year.
today i spent at least a whole hour (maybe two since time can go by so quickly)...
it is great to see some beans grown out by someone who has better garden soil than i have and they look wonderful. :) [i think i'm "antman" since my e-mail does have anthive in it]
chances of rain for the next few days including shortly. we'll see how it goes... :)
