All the Comfrey is cut and hung in the barn to dry. When i set up to grind compost; ill run the shocks of Comfrey thru the hammer mill too. Ground id expect this much will fit in a 50lb feed sack and with an NPK value higher than most Manure; it will be added to the amendment schedule in the...
Raspberries doing well this year. I pick this many every other day and when i look at where i’ve been it doesn’t look like i’ve picked them! Of course im only going for the easy, cleanest berry’s too.
Just finished our Sockeye dip netting season and took 35 of these glistening beauties along the way. Of course all the "leavings" went into the Hydroslate drum and will eventually end up on something around here.
Indy tire change!
While Ruthy started the blanch and freeze of the first 36 Broccoli i pulled the spent plants and replanted the next 36! As a “square ft. Gardner i gave up on “recommended proper spacing” a long time ago.
In a 3 X 6 ft. Section of one bed i plant 18 holes with two plants in a...

Gave them something to aim for when landing today. The entrance reducer is re-sawn Teak from some long gone ocean liners handrail and the landing board is Red Cedar from the ranch in Dakota!

I hope they were good thoughts? It’s a lot of work but the Compost is very important to me and i’ll keep up the effort as long as i can. May have to hire a kid someday as the spring transition is getting exhausting!
The new hive’s coming along. The insulations in and the outer shell is on the...
The beginnings of a new Top Bar Hive! This will be a double wall, insulated hive once completed.
First Asparagus coming up!
And at this point we are eating our own Green Beans, Celery, Parsley, Swiss Chard, Summer squash, Cucumbers, Lettuce and soon Cilantro!
In a couple more days, i’ll be eating my own cukes again.
And a nice Celery “orphan” i potted up for our Pastors wife! I told him not to count on that alone for Mothers Day, probably should still include some Chocolate.
The sequence.
A 2 1/2 gallon pail of amendments are broadcast on each bed before double tilling with the Mantis. Bed is trowled smooth with a cement trowel then lightly tamped to firm soil before using a Dibble board to make the perfectly spaced holes for set Onions. Once each hole is loaded the...
