I really like my Knockout Yellow Rose. Smells luscious and mine survived massive bindweed invasion this Spring, then bounced back. Will bloom until frost.
On Sunday I finished dehydrating sweet potatoes for the doggies. I didn't look for a recipe, just oven cooked 3 sweet potatoes, peeled off the skins, cut into smaller pieces and dehydrated them for about 8 hours. I have them in the jar in the kitchen AND they are puppy approved!
I DID mow the edges of the pasture today with my God Mower yesterday!!
This weekend I spent close to 5 hours mowing.
I also found a bucket that had some kind of vegetation sitting in it with some rain water, therefore "compost tea," and emptied that in one of my outside pots.
FINALLY, my left leg bones are set!! :weee:weee:weee
Yesterday I felt comfortable using my God Mower, where you depress the clutch with your Left foot, so I "mowed the areas around the house, like we "care" yesterday. I also hand weeded more of the wildflower garden, and mowed/blew the grasses...
I got stung by a bumblebee several years ago. I was mowing next to their hive. I called out the Apiary guys who removed honeybees from DD's house. They identified the underground nest of the bumblebees, but had no solution, save water.
I ran my hose for a full hour and that flooded out the...

Don't have any photos of the belt that my middle DD bought me for Christmas, BUT, here is one that is affordable. When I take my phone outside I want to protect it. It's an expensive investment!
THIS one isn't too expensive. There is also another one, too at WalMart. I carry other tools with...
The two girls (Teagan--mint green collar, Sasha--red collar,) 10 weeks old, GSD, go from running, chewing, playing (wolfing), to eating, outside and LOTS of water and LOTS of sleep.
Came over to share aNOTHER interesting photo--Sunflower with bees. While mowing and weeding the wildflower bed I noticed bees on several of my sunflowers. They were swaying in the breeze, but I saw this one flower relatively still. It looks like two different types of bees?
SIL will NOT get a puppy. She always goes for an older dog that needs a home.
That's Great, but puppies, young animals, are a blank slate, without baggage (usually.)
Training goes faster and sticks longer.
People are asking why DD's (the ones helping me) don't get a dog.
They don't Need a dog...
Sasha (red collar,) and Tegan (mint green collar. Tegan is almost house trained. Sasha started to drop her poo's everywhere. I took her outside this morning right before an accident, and sat in an outside chair with her for 45 minutes.
Nothing. So, Tegan got to play in the house, and Sasha...
I dunno--I think only citrus trees are sensitive to the cold. Most others thrive in climates with a winter, just not MY winter.
Also, have you priced fruit trees online?!?!?
$15/sapling is a steal. That is Box store clearance price.
I bought my Magnolia Jane, now 14 ft tall and 16 in wide at...
FINALLY a squall line and some pouring down rain at dinnertime last night.
Still soaking wet when I took puppies out this morning.
Still, More is needed...
I was storing all of my 2025 garlic harvest in paper lunch bags on top of the fridge. Unfortunately, I had 4 German Red Garlic bulbs dry out on me. :hit
This weekend I plan to clear out and replant ALL of my garlic for 2026. I may not process or consume any Red Garlic. I will post pictures...
I had a peach tree on the property, that just suddenly kicked the bucket. Produced a lot of fruit.
Then, I bought a peach tree at a box store. The tree is 15 ft tall, Lovely shade tree, practically NO fruit.
I also bought a Red Haven Peach from them. OUR biggest problem here is late Spring...
@akroberts aren't you like zone 7?
I ask bc a local expert said that our area, 5b/6a is too cold to keep most fruit trees going, but I think you could do it.
If you want to be sure to get good fruiting trees, I suggest buying from Stark Bros, bareroot.
Yeah, it's good to buy local, but the...
That IS both yucky and So OBVIOUSLY environmentally WRONG!!
Gee whiz--can't somebody take the waste and compost it?!?!?
Thanks for the tip on Small Island Seed & Cicada. :hugs
Regarding cost--I have bought from from High Mowing before where the seeds were $1/seed.
