I looked at the dwn site and it listed the nursery right up the road from me for getting trees but they had them listed the first time I checked on the nursery site for 15$ and the following year they were at 30. I think I did check out Stark Bros and all the trees I was looking at said that they can't ship to California. I will check out the other one though.

I'm zoned 9a. Also in CA no one will ship trees here because that's how pathetic the state is.

I agree with you. My garden has been so not good this year but I am still trying to get the right garden in place and I am also going to try to get a small orchard going to. Hopefully it will help with the winds we keep getting.

Cheeks is walking around and talking to me. I'm keeping her inside until she gets a bit better. The flies, mice, Whiner and the other girls could cause serious injury to her and I don't want that to happen to her because she's so sweet.

Cheeks is an olive egger. Despite having a lot of her back feathers ripped out by Whiner she laid an egg today.

Update on the rooster, he's not dead. He's under the porch. Whiner tried to take out Cheeks but she's still alive, I gave her a scrambled egg with a smidge of sugar some layer pellets and water. She's eating and took a couple of sips of water.

I would grow tomatoes because yes nothing beats a good fresh tomato.
