um, someone must be growing them, you just have to find an outlet that you can get to:

check this link:

stark brothers says it does ship to California:

call them to make sure.

for high wind areas you may need a windbreak of some kind if you plan on growing fruits on trees, simply because if you have a loaded down tree of fruit it cannot withstand direct high winds without damage.

there are various ways of planting companion wind breaks or growing shorter trees and having a fence of some kind...
I think I did check out Stark Bros and all the trees I was looking at said that they can't ship to California. I will check out the other one though.

the first link doesn't say anything about specific vendors, just lists varieties.

sad that Stark would not put it right in there about them not shipping some plants they advertise and talk about as being for CA. *ptooey!*

what big box stores do you have around your area?

I looked at the dwn site and it listed the nursery right up the road from me for getting trees but they had them listed the first time I checked on the nursery site for 15$ and the following year they were at 30. Yeah I will just have to hope I can get some started from seeds. I was lucky enough to find an olive tree for 9.99 at Grocery Outlet though so that made me happy. The nursery does sell berry bushes for 15$ so I have bought 2 each black and blue berry bushes.

starting trees from seeds can work for some but not for others. i hope you will be able to find what you want. :)
