Yes send seed back with the note they are pole beans. The original grower probably grew them nearly 10 years ago. I don't remember at that time if they told me they were pole or bush. It must have been bush because that what I listed them as. If the pods haven't gotten seedy yet try a couple...

It is interesting to note that among all the pole beans that I have planted. I'm getting the best results from the direct seeded beans with the exception of once again the limas. The limas have really taken well to being prestarted in a container and then transplanted. Many of my Phasolus...

Yes I would remove it so the running habit doesn't get into your other true bush beans. Personally I like to keep my true bush types just as they are. I don't grow bush types near anything that climbs. I think I found one runner bean among my Blue Jay this year and I removed it.

Three years of drought how awful. I hope the one year old drought we are having here doesn't go that long. We are in moderate drought but with the heat that we have had this summer if I had not watered all my beans I'm sure would be dead by now. I haven't watered now for two weeks and tomorrows...

I picked a couple of Apple Creek pods yesterday and steam cooked them. They were stringless. They are not growing in a good spot this year. They are getting only the afternoon sun. The pods are not looking very uniform in shape. I will grow them again next year and give them a sunny spot. I...

I got a surprise in my bean garden today. A bean that I got this past winter from a grower in Nanoose Bay, BC. It must be a bush that I thought might be a pole bean. So I started it early along with the pole beans and it produced some pods and blossomed long before any of the pole beans started...

I think I'm having a rather odd bean year. Early part of the season was dry and I watered. We have gotten more rain lately and I have not watered in about two weeks. However I planted in my backyard 8 varieties of snap beans early in June. Usually those snap pods a pickable by the 7th or 8th of...

All beans have that inner white membrane inside the pods. I think that is to help the growing pod maintain moisture while the seeds are developing. When the pods become dry some varieties the white membrane breaks up easily and it flys all over during shelling. Some varieties the membrane stays...

San Fiarce here was the first pole bean to climb in the plot where other pole beans are growing. The beans in this particular plot were all direct seeded. SF was also the first of these beans to bloom. I'm growing only one poles worth ( 4 plants). I'm going to try a few pods as a snap bean when...

Went out to my Bean Acres offsite today behind the deer fence to see what 2.5 inches of rain in about 30 minutes did to my pole beans. I looked at my Rain Gauge that I put there at the beginning of spring. Wow 3.3 inches of rain in about a 30 minutes. I probably won't have to water the rest of...

In 2023 I early started In Styrofoam cups about 8 varieties of pole limas. They did great. This year in general the best beans are the ones that have been direct seeded. South Flowerbed June 29th. South Flowerbed July 11. It's amazing the the beans can grow as fast as they do. I have never...

I have the same thing happen in my bean plots. However not on a mass scale. It's usually one or two plants here and there. It's happened to both bush and pole beans. The plants seem just as normal as the rest of the variety and they just wilt, dry up and die. It's been very dry here. I water the...

Yes this would be true you would destroy the plants just automatically without any further thinking. Most likely the virus is seed borne and you would destroy those too.

Here are two images of a bean leaves that don't have the normal valentine shape and is cupping downward from the Mosaic virus. The leaf is also displaying some blistering on the top surface.
