Wild rabbits literally surround me. I keep wanting to scoop up everything where they visit frequently and add it to my garden. Of course, that is time-consuming. I might try something in the future as the wild ones are my friends, and I talk to them regularly when they come by for noms.

Two are ready to go. I will cover them in straw and hope for the best while keeping them out of the main batch of snow.

The rubber isn't fully attached and doesn't have a way to break down into compost. I didn't want to cut myself on sharp metal, so hence the rubber.

They are a bit itchy, so I finally changed my socks. The onions look just as good though I am not sure I will be able to get them in the pots I have as they are frozen outside.

Little Update: I have been sprouting roots, and about 2 feet of snow has dropped. This is going to be interesting.

It's all an experiment for us all. I also trying to winter some onions under straw. If everything goes then I will know what I am doing next August. :)

I was thinking of something like this and will see what I can rig up if I have time. For me, everything needs to be UV resistant. We lost a water tank because it dry rotted on the top. It's interesting. I once lived in an area where everything developed mold and wet rotted. Now everything dry rots.

Red onions. I am trying to winter three that sprang up this summer from dropped seeds. if they survive, I will start my crop for 2024 in august.

I have some window frames. I may try setting up a kind of temporary cold frame with them planted in coffee containers if I am able to tomorrow. The thing about the snow is, it takes forever to do anything.

The rubber bits come off sadly very easily. So, should I clear the area of brush and move it away from the tree and start a small fire under it? It would cook it nicely. It's perfect for the hot summers.

The snow finally melted a bit. It is supposed to come back tomorrow. Here is a picture of my compost bin. It is small, but it works. There is a large piece of rubber inside the tank, keeping anything from falling out in case you wonder about the door not completely closing.

The door is a little sad. I used a grinder to cut it out. I added rubber tubing around the edges to prevent myself from slicing myself up on sharp edges. I think it is too small, but I can add stuff next to it, let it break down for a minute, then add it to the tank later. At least those plants...
