Thanks for the input Mary! I also live in a cool weather area, here in Michigan. This last week or so has dried the soil out to no end though. So your mulching cut your watering down in half then, more or less? I added pine bark mulch, so there's really no downfall to mulching then?

What I was more worried about was the natural acidity of the coffee grounds. I did drill a dozen or so holes in the bottom of the first bucket to drip excess moisture into the reservoir bucket underneath.

How quickly do they begin to develop roots? I wondered the same thing but wasn't sure how well it worked. Will it work on any vegetable plant sucker? Could you share a few pictures? Only a curious young gardener. :cool:
