    I learned the hard way with my raised beds... peat moss is a soil acidifier. If your soil is already acidic, stay far far away from peat moss.

    Well that's a neat surprise...

    I'm trying some Moon and Stars watermelons this year. The leaves have spots and I just knew they'd been attacked by some sort of malady. But then it dawned on me... maybe the leaves are speckled too. Sure enough, they are! How cool! :D

    Oh yes - from here in Macon, Georgia, the self-proclaimed "Cherry Blossom Capital of the World" I can say that that is most undoubtedly a cherry blossom. :)

    The DE that I've seen at Lowe's has been for use in swimming pools. I know it's not supposed to be used with chickens. Not sure how it fares in the garden.

    We have a bunch of little holes in the ground too, but I haven't known what they are. Maybe this is what we've got. Our holes look like you've stuck a golf tee in, then pulled it straight out. No mound of dirt around the opening, like it's an earthworm.

    I am trying that as well this year. The corn is planted in roughly a hexagon shape, with squash plants between neighboring hexagons and beans on the outside. (I found a great diagram in a book somewhere.) I have also read that the beans should not be planted until the corn is at least a foot...

    Yeah, they're usually in someone's yard or on the edge of a tree line. Like the one in the link you posted.
