My wonderful Australorp hen hatched out 9 beautiful Orpington chicks this weekend. She is an excellent mother and much more relaxed than my Black Copper Marans hen that hatched out 2 Andalusians a few weeks ago. Enjoy the cuteness!!!

I know these aren't considered an heirloom, but here are some of my Indigo Rose tomatoes that are just starting to set fruit. Aren't they wild looking?!

While weeding the pumpkins yesterday, I found a volunteer tomato plant! There haven't been tomatoes in that area for almost 3 years! If I remember correctly, the last variety that was in that area was either Brandywine Pink, Big Rainbow, or Black Krim.

From what I gather, the pellets are a cleaner burn. They are also a more diverse way to flavor because you can choose different kinds of wood pellets to burn...not to mention this grill measures out the appropriate amount for different cuts of meat.

Here are the stats now- 4 stillborn, 2 quitters, and 2 beautiful healthy chicks! There are 6 eggs left under broody girl. She is quite the attentive and nurturing mama. I'm so proud of her!

Well mama kicked out an egg that was partially hatched but had developed the wrong way (away from the air cell). It also hadn't absorbed it's yolk. I'm getting more and more discouraged!

I just admired my garden today. I could have weeded if I wanted to, but it was a beautiful day and I wanted to enjoy all my hard work.
