Blanching turns the celery a lighter color and is less bitter

What is the best way to blanch celery? I haven't planted celery for quite a while, in the past I used cardboard 1/2 gal. milk cartons. Anyone have a favorite method?

Just pulled out all my tomato plants and cut off the potato vines yesterday due to what I believe was late blight. For those of you in SW PA beware.

I too purchased from Burpee in the past, but the seed I buy from them now is through the local stores. Variety is limited but occasionaly they have what I want. Park is gettng most of my order this year.

I use 25 & 40 watt in regular 4' flourescents and can't say that I have seen that much difference. The key is keeping them close to the plants. The pic is of a stand that I made out of 1-1/4 PVC pipe.

Same here - I am not concerned, they don't seemed to be diseased or anything. Just wait until next year and see how they do.

I borrowed one from a friend last year to make some grape juice. The juice that it makes is more like a concentrate. We didn't like the juice as much as our original recipe, but our friend raves about it. All I can say is give it a try.
