Thanks again everyone for another nice welcome back.......it's sure good to see some of my dahlia/gardening buddies again. Here is a photo of the North end of the Dahlia field.....I'll post photos from other areas of the Dahlia bed later......Enjoy!!!!

Thanks..... I would choose varieties that suit your color pallet and shapes and sizes that are attractive to you. Also, I would ONLY grow as many plants that you have time and space for. Taller varieties need staking....lower varieties are noticed less and can sometimes be lost when planted...

It's been awhile since I've been on here....I hope everyone is well and had a great Holiday season. We have tons of snow here in Northern Michigan and I'm looking forward to Spring everyday. I'm hoping to put in about 3,000 Dahlias this coming May. I'm storing about 3,500 lbs. of tubers...

It's $3.77 gal. Reg. here in Northern Michigan today....My brother...(trying to be funny) asked me if I wanted a coupon for a gallon of gas....Of course I said "sure"...he then handed me a $5.00 bill from his wallet.... :/ LOL...Not too far from the truth.

I just checked all of my Dahlia tubers in the basement again.....making sure none had rotted or dried up. Hoping to put about 2,100 Dahlia this year.....about 120 varieties. Lambing starts here in about one week....expecting about 30 lambs to be born. I'm going to start setting Bantam eggs...

I just checked my stored Dahlia tubers....all ok. My lambs should start arriving in a week or two...expecting about 30 this season. I'll be setting some Bantam eggs at the end of the month...... Spring is around the corner.....I'm VERY tired of this white stuff and the single digit...

Thinking Spring....... just checked the Dahlia tubers in the basement for correct temp. and signs of too dry or rotting. Can't wait to start planting. Expecting about 30 lambs this season...they should start arriving in a week or two. I'm going to start a few shorter Dahlia varieties...

I raise several varieties of Mint and all but one is growing outside...year round. My Orange Mint does very well outside and survives our very cold Northern Michigan Winters without any trouble. It spreads like most Mints and is thriving like crazy. Keep us posted!!!

Welcome.....From a neighbor just North of you in Michigan. I raise and show poultry, sheep, and Dahlias. I used to raise Rhinelander, Dutch, and Mini Rex rabbits. There are alot of really helpful people here with tons of experience and answers to any questions. Happy Holidays!!! Rusty...

I'm not sure about the cold weather,...how well any tubers would do being mailed now. I could try...but wouldn't know if they'd freeze in transit. There are about 2,000 lbs. of tubers in my basement. Let me know...how is the weather in your neck of the woods? Rusty

:lol:.....Please give Dahlias another chance! There are enough people here to help you with new tubers and ANY Dahlia questions you may have. Some varieties can be grown in window boxes, pots, border gardens, just about anywhere that will have good soil, sun, and water drainage. I'm sorry...

Wow!!!! $30.00.....it's high here too. Here's the Dahlia that is being used as my "Avatar".....called "Surprise"....I wish I would have kept more tubers of this variety.....I kept maybe 10.

Sounds good, Please let us know how it goes. I may try the freezer bag system with some next year but with Pine shavings instead of Vermiculite. I couldn't afford to buy enough Vermiculite for 2,000 lbs. of tubers....:). I hope this method works..... "Sky Angel".....I'm going to use...
