I found this great blog She explains about pruning grape vines and fruit trees and has nice pictures. I would like to prune my vines and trees like this next year. What I really need is a book to take out into the garden with me. Anyone have a pruning book suggestion?

The master gardener's club sponsors a scarecrow contest at the county fair. I entered this year. The theme was butterfly garden. There are a lot of really nice scarecrows, so I don't think I will win a prize, but it was really fun to make a scarecrow. The Flower Family

I went on a berry picking vacation in Bayfield, WI this last week-end. My mom and I try to go to Bayfield every year on our annual mom/daughter trip. We had to check out the community garden. And "procure" a few seed pods from a double red hollyhock. We went to the farmer's market and...

I want to/ need to harvest my garlic, but it will not stop RAINING!!!! Or rather pouring. Should I wait until it stops raining and take it out then or just harvest it and try to dry it out?

My water lily is blooming! This was on Sun. This was today I've never seen a water lily bloom, so I'm very excited!

I made this cement rhubarb leaf to use as a headstone on my hen's grave. I want to make a more chicken themed on, but I'm not sure what to do. Maybe with feathers? Chicken footprints?

I have a severe infestation of fourlined plant bugs. Has anyone dealt with this before? They are everywhere and all the info I can find says they are not detrimental "except" in severe infestations. :barnie And I have a severe infestation! They are beetles? So could I use DE?

I just stabbed myself in the foot with a gardening fork! A big fork and at full speed. Owwwwwww - serves me right for trying to cram one more second of gardening into the day.
