    My garden now

(this was posted on BYC too) I finally found some time to work on my garden and now that all dangers of a late frost has past ( :fl ) I planted some corn. I'll get more planted in the next few days. I'm going to buy some started plant too. Like tomatoes and herbs. Everything else I think...

    Spinach seedlings

It gets really hot here too in the summer. From what I've been reading it says to plant them indoors 3 weeks before the last frost and then plant outside and they'll be fine. This is my first time growing Spinach so this will be a learning experience.

    Spinach seedlings

OMG! Spinach seeds grow FAST! I just started them about 4 days ago! Cool link about Spinach: http://www.urbanext.uiuc.edu/veggies/spinach1.html Is it true that you can get kidney stones from eating to much Spinach? I think I saw that on an episode of Reba. :D

    WOO HOO new garden! FINALLY

It's about 20'x40' Tilling was finished today. We added to the soil mushroom compost and our chicken poo and pine shavings from last summer. I took the pictures so you don't see that I actually did any work but I did a lot of it. We're both very sore and tired. I'm thinking about a nice hot...

llama poo and goat poo - can fresh poo be put into the garden?

No one else posted so I'll give it a try. I know that chicken poo has too much acid in it and must be aged. I think that it's best to age all poo before adding it into the garden...but if it's a smaller amount of poo then it may be safe to till in. I may be wrong...hopefully someone else with...

    Cutting a new garden

Good news! I went to my local equipment rental place to ask about renting a tiller and ended up taking a part time job there. I start Monday! I'm renting a tiller from there because my tiller is small and just can't get the job done. When I left there the owner told me that Saturday when I...

    Composting and soil amendment

I just keep piles in the woods. I go out and water them and toss them around. It's great compost. I've never heard of a composting machine. Do you have a link to one?

    Rose question

Here they are...millions of these. Eastern Tent Caterpillars. We have a tree in out backyard that they make one of those tent things on every year in the same spot. You can see tiny caterpillars in it. http://www.ca.uky.edu/entomology/entfacts/ef423.asp

    Composting and soil amendment

I have 2 compost piles that consist of AGED chicken poo, veggie scraps, wheat straw and pine shavings. I'm thinking about burning leaves in my old veggie garden site (now that the fire ban has been lifted in my area). Then I want to mix in egg shells and the contents of my compost pile. That...

    Rose question

You'd hate it around my house. This is Ms. Banana. She was out by my water hose all last summer and her babies hatched out this week. I love all creatures big and small. I hope to see her babies around this summer.

    Rose question

Even still, I can't kill them even if the chickens do the killing. I know I'm crazy, you don't even have to say it. :P I would rather let them have the rose bush than kill them.

    Rose question

PERFECT! Now where do I plant it? Near the rose bush, around it?

    Rose question

I'm thinking about what adoptedbyachicken said: Either that or I'll let the lil worms have it. I know...I'm crazy. I actually remember my first kill. I was probably 2 because I was living in Arizona. I remember killing a fly that was in the house and crying for days after. I haven't...

    Rose question

I couldn't do that. I'm anti-kill. I know it sounds crazy to some folks but I don't kill anything on purpose...even bugs. :bee Edited to add: Even in the house, I'm strictly catch and release. :D
