i can have avocado seeds sprout in the gardens, but they'll die from the cold here. since i don't want them to sprout in the worm buckets i dry the seeds out all the way now so they won't sprout.

Zone 11B, avocados from seed will start to produce in about four or five years. Probably because they don't take winters off but grow all the time. We try not to let them sprout, though, or we'd be covered in avocados.

Not quite sure what variety these are. They're very tasty and creamy, but not sure if they're a named variety or not. They may be some variant of Sharwil, they're not Lehua. Here's some of the ones they sell as variety specific saplings: https://www.plantithawaii.com/avocado The trees from these types sprout fast, grow fast and I'd think they'd produce faster as well. The trees get enormous, too.
