When I was a kid Thanksgiving time meant my favorite fruit was in season Chinese apple. I am sure it is not politically correct to call them by that name. The only pomegranate tree I ever seen was a ancient one, growing in my uncles in LA. I knew what it was because, no one bothered to pick the fruit and they dried on the tree. I have been noticing there are now more cold hardy variety of pomegranates, Brunt Ridge has one Punica Granatum hardy up to zone 6, but does say needs hot summer to ripen. Would like to try one, but if no chance of ripe fruit, will pass. Anyone in zone 6 or lower grow pomegranate and get ripe fruit?
