I know to many mulberry is a weed tree, people find very messy. Mulberry leaves make execent food for livestock ( Harvey my rabbit) Cherry growers plant them never their trees, the cherries and mulberry ripen at same time. Birds prefer mulberry to cherries, leaving the cherries for grower.I do have 2 named varites of mulberry, but they don't have the vigerouse growth of wild ones.

Have hundreds of mulberries, thousands of mulberries, millions and billions and trillions of mulberries. Okay, the book was about cats, but I'm forever digging or pulling out mulberry starts.

I know they are very hard to get out along fence and house foundation, I think I got it and they come back from whatever was left behind. :( Must have a LONG tap root.

Seed they are so hard to kill, I figured they would transplant easy. Are they hard to transplant?
For me they were. Most people consider them weeds and would not even think of transplanting them. So really don't know the answer.

I think people don't like them because they can be messy if planted near house or car. Here in the city they are planted between street and sidewalk. The trees city plants are suppose to be male so no messy berries, but every now and then one produces berries. They are very hardy trees that can take city abuse. I read the only reason why berries are not more popular is because they don't ship well.
