We were very blessed tonight to have our latest Bat Mitzvah condidate read from the Torah scroll for the first time with the trop (tune). She has worked very hard to learn Hebrew and to sing it from the Torah scroll with no vowels or punctuation. It is not an easy task. We were so proud of her!

At the computer discussing the translation of her Torah portion.

First time to read her portion from the Scroll.
Her younger sister looking on.

I think she looks so grown up in this photo!

Learning Hebrew is super challenging! Especially script, and especially especially with no vowels (it's not so easy to figure out the words when you're not fluent in the language). Good for her! And as someone who is musically-challenged (and can't read Hebrew!), I can't imagine reading aloud being much easier than learning to read to begin with. Mazel tov!

She is doing so well!! Last night she did her whole portion from the scroll and translated it too. She is 11, soon to be 12 and a real whiz kid!
