It grows along our creek bank and the plants can be as high as 5 feet tall.
The flower is very delicate and almost translucent.

I would love to know what it is if anyone can help.

I am not sure of the specific species but it is a Yellow Primrose.

Thanks Ron. I didn't even think of that because of the height and the thinness of the leaves. I thought it might be some type of moon plant.
Thanks for the info

Funny that I too had this same "tall bloomer" in my yard a few years back. It came up in some pots and the flowerbeds.

Here are the pictures I took, and I too was astounded that a Primrose would be so tall. I am used to the short bushy primroses.

Take a look and see how similar this is to yours.

Hi there!

I think it is called Evening Primrose or Oenothera! Take a look at this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oenothera

Be careful as it is a 'thug' & will self seed as well as sending out roots ----EeeeeeK!!!!!!! :ep It has taken over my front lawn....!!! :barnie :he

The good news is that apparently you can cook & eat the roots & use the young shoots in salad -- an incentive to me to dig the damned stuff out.......just to try a new taste ........Hmmmmm!

You guys are all so smart! Thank you for the help. That's definately what it is.
I'm not worried about it spreading as it's down by the creek and can do what ever it want. It's so pretty/

Thanks again for all the help

Jacie
