I thought that this was interesting and hope that Dahlia doesn't mind if I put this here:

It goes with the Marionberry jam I had with a couple of English muffins this morning.

Heritage. But also, Wikipedia says that it is the most common "blackberry" grown. There is @baymule 's dewberry. Oregon is mentioned for origin and as an important growing region. Yes, and named for Marion County, where the variety was test grown.

Look at that heritage! I had marmalade on my English muffins yesterday. Felt so British :D. Yes, English heritage in my gene pool :). There's some questions about where the Native American and Dutch come into play but with ancestors well back in colonial times, I recently learned that George Washington is a relative. Yes, that George Washington!

George's grandfather had a sister, Anne. She was a grandmother waaay back. Even with complexity to the Marionberry bramble, it doesn't quite hold a candle to the mess that humans can get themselves into living on the borders.
