I pulled a branch of what I think is old fashioned weigela, long story short it came from a deceased love ones property and I won’t have a chance to go back so I need to figure out how to make this stay alive. Any tips are appreciated and if you could tell me where to buy stuff that would help too. Sorry I have literally no idea what I am doing and I just impulsively grabbed it

While not with weigela,I have had success with this technique before. It looks like weigela is particularly suited to doing this with cuttings from spring/early summer, so you look to be in luck.
Also a strong decoction of willow bark works as an alternative to rooting hormone (its what they make it from anyway).
Although it seems counterintuitive its important to keep your piece a max of 8 inches, extra length means extra drain on a no root system. If you end up with multiple pieces doing that all the better, then melt some candle wax and dip the tops in wax to help reduce water loss. Make sure to keep the soil damp but not wet. You don't want it to rot, but it is very susceptible to drying out with no roots. Also, I would suggest keeping it domed indoors in a sunny window or under a high quality grow light for a month or 2 until its better established. (A soda/juice bottle with the bottom cut off helps) and sprinkling cinnamon on the soil will help keep mold out and fungus gnats down.
When it does go outside make sure to "harden off" so the shock of UV doesn't burn it.

Oh, and any garden store, or even most lawn aand home improvement stores will have the supplies you need. (Lowe's for instance) if you can't get the supplies right by away put it in some water on a window sill until you can, it should be fine there for a few days.
