I have noticed that most of the many bees we have visiting the flowers and clover are larger than regular honey bees and have a very dark brown rear end, with slighly fainter stripes. They look like a honey bee on steroids. Kinda like a cross between a bumble bee and a honey bee. Do any of you bee keepers know if this is a new strain of honey bee or something that has been around for eons and I just didn't notice? My first thought was "Killer Bees" but DH had to irritate some of them yesterday and they didn't attack, so hopefully they aren't killers. I am not seeing many of the regular honey bees here this year.:bee :bee
