This is my favourite one @Dahlia !

2 tbsp butter
1/4 maple syrup (or sugar if you want more fluffiness)
1 egg
1/4 almond milk
1 cup almond flour
1/4 cup organic cocoa (1/8 if you want less intense insomnia)
1/8 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
1tsp real vanilla

I always crack a few walnuts and chop them for the top.
25-30 minutes at 350in an 8x8 .

Really good and still has health benefits!
These are the tastiest brownies I've ever eaten.
This is more my speed with the maple syrup as sweetener. Sounds delicious!

America's Test Kitchen did a taste testing of brownies and ALL winning (preferred) brownies contained es;presso powder. It is interesting that THIS recipe lists espresso powder - optional.

Is it their Ultimate Chocolate Brownie with Buttercream Frosting?

This recipe has a lot of good memories for me. My friend, Betsy, was a pastry chef and caterer. One day she mentioned wanting to taste-test different brownie recipes for a boxed-lunch event she was catering. I promptly provided this untried recipe I'd clipped from a magazine* and received an invitation to an afternoon of baking in her little farmhouse kitchen. We had so much fun! 🥳 This is the recipe that won, hands down. It does not need the frosting. Betsy died a few years later (she was so young!), but my favorite memories of her are from that day in her kitchen making brownies.

[edit to add: *It was a 1987 ad for one of their recipe books]

Ultimate Chocolate Brownies with Buttercream Frosting

3/4 cup HERSHEY'S Cocoa
1/2 tsp baking soda
2/3 cup butter or margarine, melted and divided
1/2 cup boiling water
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup HERSHEY'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips or MINI CHIPS

Brownies:

Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease rectangular pan, 13x9x2 inches, or two square pans, 8x8x2 inches.

In medium bowl combine cocoa and baking soda. Blend in 1/3 cup melted butter. Add boiling water; stir until mixture thickens.

Stir in sugar, eggs and remaining 1/3 cup melted butter; stir until smooth.

Add flour, vanilla and salt; blend completely. Stir in chocolate chips.

Pour into prepared pan(s). Bake 35 to 40 minutes for rectangular pan, 30 to 35 minutes for square pans or until brownies begin to pull away from sides of pan. Cool completely in pan(s); frost with One-Bowl Buttercream Frosting [if desired]. Cut into squares.

One-Bowl Buttercream Frosting (optional):

6 Tbs butter or margarine, softened
1/2 cup HERSHEY'S Cocoa
2 2/3 cups confectioners' sugar
1/3 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla extract

In small mixer bowl cream butter. Add cocoa and confectioners' sugar alternately with milk; beat to spreading consistency (additional milk may be needed). Blend in vanilla. Makes about 2 cups frosting.

Yield: Makes about 3 dozen brownies.
That isn’t the recipe I use, but it sure sounds delicious. What a beautiful story of an afternoon spent with a friend. Thanks for sharing that heart warming memory with us.
