I'm dreaming of putting a pumphouse on top of my well, that doubles as a greenhouse--haven't figured out the details, yet....

That sounds like a great idea, and a good use of space and supplies. This is what we want to do with our shed we are yet to build. Double/ Triple it as storage, a wood workshop for hubby with a greenhouse attached to the south facing wall.
That has got to be more then economical for you!
