Butterfly bushes from seed?

Got a packet of butterfly bush seeds. I never grew butterfly bush from seeds, I always bought gallon pots of started ones. Is there anything in particular I should do, other than put them in dirt, add water, and hope? Will they flower the first year from seeds, or do I wait till next year? The seed packet is being annoyingly non-specific.

Just kind of press the seed to the soil and mist them. Otherwise, they just wash away. I've grown lots by seed. Just keep the damp and they will grow like weeds
