Hello there!

I received a prickly type cactus pup from a friend and also a few Christmas cactus clippings from my aunt. I live in the basement with minimal lighting. I have an elaborate set up for my seedlings, but do not plan on keeping that set up year round. Looking for lighting suggestions small enough for desktop display.

I planted the prickly cactus in cactus soil to root as described on a few videos I watched. I have the Christmas cactus in about an inch of water per my aunts instructions. Should they be getting lighting to help the process? I don't want to burn them either.

I'm using ZooMed Ultra Sun lamps for my seedlings, I have three six, 32 watt, 48" lamps set up for those. I'm wondering if a single, 17 watt, 24" lamp would suffice for these two plants? My other alternative are these LED chip bulbs I've come across.

Here are the links:

ZooMed Ultra Sun 6500k (good results so far with the seedlings) - http://www.amazon.com/Zoo-Med-Trich...ue&ref_=ox_sc_sfl_title_2&smid=A2YKHLMXRLPQLV

LED (no prior experience) - http://www.amazon.com/Highest-Effic...ywords=grow+light&refinements=p_72:2661618011

Looking forward to your thoughts :)

thanks!

I don't know anything about either one, but I believe I would try the LED. Since your plants are small and it sounds like your living space is small, maybe use a desk type lamp with the LED and that would be sufficient without taking up a lot of room.
