Well yeah, I eat seeds from pumpkins and butternut squash.

What I'm asking is can you eat the seeds from a gourd/squash that aren't normally eaten. you know, funky stuff like this:

They were given to me as decoration, and I'd hate to waste all of them if I could eat the seeds. But I'd also like to not die if they are poisonous or something. So can anyone help answer my question?

Hum, interesting question! Maybe you could go to Google and try to find the pic and name of your questionable squash then ask if they are edible.... :)

I have always been told to STAY AWAY from gourd seed. As far as I know nothing about gourds is edible, but I am willing to be educated.

The bottom one does not look like your typical gourd but more of an heirloom squash, those you can eat if that is what it is.
The others, if you don't know for sure then I would not bother with it.
I googled this online for you and there is differing opinons on whether its safe to eat.
Most seem to say however to stay away from those bottle neck gourds.
I really doubt its much of a waste. They are grown for ornamental purposes anyway which actually should probably be telling of their edibility but if you don't want to throw it away after the fall display then dry out the gourd and make a birdhouse or something or leave them for the animals to eat.

Hmmm... I always assume if one part is not edible... none of it is. Its a better safe then sorry thing, unless someone else explains it to me as being ok and has written documents! LOL

Like I'm scared of mushrooms I don't buy to eat. Just an issue I have!
