Can you ID this plant?

It was growing in one of the flower beds, I know it is some kind of squash thing (cucumber, zucchini, pumpkin) but I don't know which one.

I transplanted it into the garden, but it would help if I knew where to put it.

It looks quite a bit like my pumpkin seedlings. It is similar to my zucchini. But, I will say that it does not look like my cucumbers. They are all of about this age.

Andy, it may be both a zucchini and a pumpkin. They are both Cucurbita pepo and cross readily. If it is a volunteer from last year's seed - it may have both vegetable parents.

That may mean that its fruit would have little use to you.

I don't think it is both. I grew zucchini last year, but not pumpkin.

I would say that this is part of the "guts" of either a zucchini I grew, or a pumpkin I bought.

Will I be able to tell what it is before it bears either a pumpkin or a zucchini?

It should not develop as a vine, if it's a zucchini.

I have no clue what it is but if its a cross don't just assume its fruit won't be good.

We had some volunteers that we thought were squash. Turns out it crossed with something last year. Not sure but we think it might be our squash and neighbors gourds. At any rate - it vines from this tremendously big squash looking plant and produces this wonderful lime green fruit that looks strange but when you cut into it, it looks like a squash and taste like a squash only slightly sweeter. It has turned out to be a wonderful addition to the garden. And we are eating it several times a week.
However, with this vining thing going on it sure takes up a lot of room.

So give this thing a little room and see what develops.

I don't think it's zucchini since its leaves are rounded.

looks alot like my 'pan squash' the little flat scalloped squash-yum!
Some of these types of plants, gourds/squash/vine things don't like to be transplanted-I'd leave it a bit and see.
