Can you transplant columbine?

When you dig them out of the ground have a painters bucket with water ready and put them straight into the water and in the SHADE to recover. Then, I would transplant in the evening so that they don't have to also adjust to sunlight.
I have saved many a compromised clearance vegetable in this way.
