Choke Weed - Help!

We have choke weed popping up all over our flower bed, but it is overtaking my rose bush! I want to get rid of it without hurting the rose bush. Any ideas?

It may not actually be called choke weed. Its a pretty light green vine that strangles other plants!

To ID it, a photo would help, or at least a description of the leaves? (what shape, single or in clusters of several leaflets, arranged opposite or alternate on the stem, etc)

Most things, the most effective control is to hand-pull it and then KEEP handpulling it like clockwork every time it pokes its nose aboveground, til the roots are exhausted.
