Clematis Vine Yellow Leaves

White Plains NY,weekends Lagrange NY.
What is going on with this clematis ? 10 year old vine planted against well house mulched with stone and lily of valley. Same thing happened last year does not effect flowering.

after many tries with clematis we now have one very healthy thriving and blooming vine. Just planted 2 more :fl so will watch for an answer to this incase it happens to ours.

I think it's odd that only one vine coming from the roots is affected. Does the whole plant eventually yellow?

Ah, there's Annette! I was going to suggest that she would know. :)

It almost looks like the plant is reverting itself to it's original origins. Almost like when a rose of a different colors blooms because it's gone back to the original cross/stock.

The iron sounds like a good thing. A master gardener told me to give them a cup of limestone every year-don't know how your soil ph is , though. And of course fertilizer. Another master gardener turned me on to greensand. It is used too regenerate tired soil once every 5 years.
