Still haven’t caught. Or seen the big rat but I got 4 of the smaller ones today. 3 on the same trap as the best bait for a rat seems to be dead rat🤮🤮🤮

The 5 chicks are doing good and momma hen is looking after them well. All are different colors. I also realized the 4 Easter Eggers all have feathered legs.

Having a deviled egg sandwich for my 2nd breakfast and reading this article:

Simple pleasures: climbing trees

Did you used to climb trees? Do you still?

The utility guys are across the road. Apparently some real problems with the 40mph wind gusts, yesterday. In the afternoon, they were up in several trees and power poles. Today, they are back with the chipping machine ;).

My aunt, really 3rd cousin, but helped raise my mother and everybody called her Aunt Myrtle, she climbed her pecan tree when she was 80 to trim it.

Farm update:

Local survey scheduled for completion June 20-30. Cost $3250

Buyer of 40 acres across road brought surveyor from Tyler to the table. Said he could do it in 3 weeks. Then he ran into the Trinity County Way. Nothing is online. It’s been a week…. Got a price from him today and a date of completion—June 14.

So it’s $7,000 MORE for a week sooner? What happened to 3 weeks?

Local guy knows area and they have done many, many surveys over the years. New guy is a blank page and wants to survey the entire property of over 100 acres to carve out my 25.

I reckon y’all know which one I’m going with.

So I sit and wait.
