Ditty Bag

I just finished my most recent sewing project. This sailor's ditty bag. I like how it turned out. I think next I'll make a sage green one.

I thought I was the only one in the world that calls our bags for our bathroom things when we travel: ditty bags. Where in the heck did I get that term?

Ditty bags were traditionally used by sailors to store their personal items while on board a ship. So they probably stored their bathroom supplies in these bags too. It makes sense why you call them that!

Daddy was in the Army Air Corp and then the Air Force, for over 30 years. Guess I picked it up from him! Thanks!!!

OMG, he was probably as old as my dad, who was ALSO in the WWII "Army Air Corp," predecessor to the Air Force.
