Do You have To Deal With Rush Hour traffic ?

I think a lot of it is what you are used to. What people here complain about as a traffic jam is just a minor annoyance compared to New Orleans. I lived in Houston for a year, that can get pretty bad too. The worst thing is when there is an accident or some kind of problem. An some people can handle it better than others.

As far as mass transit I was thinking New York might have some type of subway system that Alex could use. Seems like I rode on that a few times when I visited but not sure what the connections are like for him.

Buying supplies might include carrying lots of boxes and bags back with him. That's not practical on public transportation.

Not for shopping expeditions, you should be able to plan most of those for non-rush hour traffic times or on shopping days you drive. I was thinking of going to and from work on the daily commute.

We are fortunate none of us work... me blind 57, Richard just old giggle.... James his son we joke ax murderer heart issues bad
our little town has no stop lights but for the highway where you turn to come into town only time we see traffic is heading into town ie Chehalis or Centralia worse if we go to Olympia big city but get to pick our times and know the old roads

We don't have much in the way of traffic, but the girls and I went to Fountain Valley, southern California to see a cousin, Godfather who is not well, God Love him~ the girls saw what traffic can be like~cars actually coming to a stop on the freeway~wasn't much fun that part```

Road rage. I cannot repeat here the things that I say in my car while driving to crummy drivers, inCLUDING (on the drive back from CO on I-70) the unmarked cop car creeping back on from the shoulder and the guy next to me TOTALLY igNORING my signal and BOTH almost creating a wreck!!!! THEN, the cop stops SOMEbody for SOME reason and I have to hit the brakes yet aGAIN!!! That's when I discovered it was a cop car. :rant:rant:rant:rant:rant

My official hours were 7:30 until 4:30 but I was there by 7:00.
I find that drivers behave differently depending on the time during the rush, and it's most noticeable during the morning.

Of course, I'm not really dealing with big city traffic and I take country roads, for the most part. Still, I'm fairly regularly driving nearly 20 miles on some weekdays and can vary my departure time, depending on my mood and what I want to get done. But, I am a morning person and often find myself right in the middle of the workday crowd. (Don't you hate that? The retired people cluttering up the traffic lanes? We often turn up in the supermarket on weekends, too. ha ha, he ...hick! ;) )

Anywho, as we near commercial districts near the top of the hour, traffic behavior is extreme! By 10 minutes after the hour ... everything slows down ... Ridge', the drivers at minutes approaching 7am are the most extreme. Approaching 8am, they are a little more civilized. Before 6am, there is little traffic on the roads I frequent. Maybe @bobm is right and the rush is getting earlier and earlier, and that's everywhere.

A guy pulled carelessly part way into my lane this morning but I think he was just tired. Roofer ... imagine being a roofer and going to work in late August about 5:45 ...

Steve

Steve, a roof is a very HOT place to work on during the afternoons. So, they want to start at first light, like most farmers do, and wrap up their work day by 1 or 2 in the afternoon.
