My father and his dog are spending Sat night at my house. Sun we will go to my sister's for a Fathers day BBQ. Wanted to make sure I have a ex large supply of Xanax. What are you doing for Fathers day ?

OMG! My first thought at seeing the thread was you'd poisoned another friend! So glad it wasn't that. So sorry you need meds. to survive being with family.

My heart goes out to you. Family is supposed to be a safe place where you can be yourself not one that requires that you medicate your feelings and temper your thoughts.

Hum-m-m-m, not that my family was all that safe and comfortable, but I'd never considered going as anyone other than myself -- for good or ill.

We are having a barbeque at our house. With everyone's different schedules, it's hard to get everyone together. So it's always so special and nice when we do. We all get along very well, in fact we try to have family vacations together at least with part of the family.

When is it? Every day I see my Dad is Father's Day, so I don't ever really keep up with the national holiday for it. My boys never had a real father, except for their Heavenly Father, so FD wasn't a big deal around here.

Just came back from seeing Dad...clipped his finger and toenails, helped Mom cut his hair and shave him, treated all his sores, washed him up and followed that with lotion and salves. He fought me all the while this time around, so it took both of us to hold him steady until everything was completed. Will be sewing him some adaptive clothing before we visit again so they can snap his shirts up the back instead of trying to lift his arms to get into the armholes...he grows more and more stiffened by the day.

Will do it again next visit. Father's Day happens every month, twice a month.

Right back at ya, Red! You do Father's Day every day, so you know of which I speak....love is a daily thing, especially when one is a caregiver.

Dad was all over my driving today, speed up, slow down, where to turn, lol. He was just nerves, that's all. I told him we're coming to his house and firing up the grill Sunday. He said not to bother, too much trouble. I asked him what kind of desert he wanted. Says he's not hungry. He's getting blackberry cobbler whether he likes it or not.

Perhaps a good, family get-together for Father's Day is just what he needs to feel more back to normal. Not a big fuss over him because he's ill, but a big fuss because he's Dad and ya'll love him.

It could be a good thing.
