We have so many huge turnips and I have only eaten them as my mother prepares them, boiled with lots of sugar in them. Since I am trying to cut down on sugar, was wondering if any of you would like to share your recipes for the vegetable with a bite.

I like them roasted with other veggies - carrots, sweet potatoes, onion is my usual mix with them but you could use whether you want, I've used potatoes, parsnips, etc. Just cut veggies into chunks and roast either in a baking pan with a lid or for easier cleanup just wrap them in foil. I add either butter or olive oil, some pepper and salt or seasoning salt or whatever herbs I feel like. They are great on the bbq as well. :drool

Thanks, will try that. I found a recipe on the internet that we tried last night. I cut them up like french fries, coated them in olive oil, sea salt, nutmeg, and parmesan cheese. I baked them on a cookie sheet. They were good. Next time will use paprika for some spicey taste.

They pep up a stew and are great in stir-fries or as tempura. Turnip fritters are tasty but the way I like them best is mashed with potatos about 1/3 turnips and the rest potatos..
