We got lots of figs here too. I love them! The only think I dislike is that if your lips touch the skin of the fig, you'll have little spikes stuck on to you.

yeah your suppose to peel the skin off, but the chickens seem to enjoy the skins.

Here's my fig tree. I bought in in March and it already had figs on it. It's grown a lot but I wonder if the figs should be bigger?

I know a woman that has HUGE fig trees. She says she gets about 200 each day from one tree. They are very productive!

I just ate my first fig of the year and I almost want to blush at just how ..well ...um ...sexy exotic wonderful mindblowing ...ok I am going to go to my room now and stop thinking all these thoughts

I will post pics later... I want/need advice on how to prune this wildly gangly tree!!!! also if you have never grown figs..and can in your zone..

my tree is just loaded this year I want to do the happy fig dance so many figs will lmake so many wonderful recipes
and the leaves ..well if you have never cooked with fig leaves you are really missing out on the most wonderful vanilla fig essence in your food

I just had a thought Hattie if you read this what do you think of the idea of a fig leaf cordial??? I WONDER??????? would it infuse? can it be done? ...hmmmmmmm ok I am going to try!!!

I think if you chopped up the leaves or maybe whizzed them & then infused them it might help......Hmmmmm!!!...... may be the sugar & the leaves need to be pounded or whizzed together --- I favour pounding for some reason. Just mulling it over in my mind.........................

I waited and waited and finally they were bursting ..beautiful and wonderful tasting!
my crop of figs have been picked ..eaten right off the tree ..drizzled with honey on yogurt and we have enjoyed every bite ...now the alotted number that were spared the insatiable out of hand consumption ...are in jars as a magnificant jam (if I do say so myself)

the second crop are about 1 1/2 inch around ..If we had 6 more weeks of warm weather they would ripen ...but that is not likely ..every year I hope and every year they just do not have the sun and warm weather to do it
all those baby figs just sitting there and my hope is there too ..but reality ...well reality is I need to live further south to get that second and third crop to mature!!!

for now I am grateful for this haul

Nice figs!!!!!!! Hidelight What kind of fig is it? it looks different with that narrow point at the top.
I bet you enjoyed every bit of them.
My crop of figs will hopefully be ready in a few more weeks at least.

does anyone? the figs are big and the tree looks ..well like a fig tree! it is fairly big now and gangly that is why I had so many questions about pruning it

I just have no clue what type it is... I should go back and ask my friend at the nursery what they are... but when ever I go they have something new for me to buy and I get side tracked!!!

the jam is so good I can not even begin to tell you ..I made a rustic tart out of it this weekend and omg I was so glad it got consumed so quickly!!! because I would have eaten the entire thing!!!

5-6 more weeks of sunny warm weather and that second crop could be mine ..but every year as I said I hold hope and every year I have to be happy with what I got

That sounds sooo good! Sounds like you need to give it a friend so you'll have twice as many figs. Will they reproduce from cuttings? I miss my old fig tree.
