First Rose...What kind is it?

I kinda took it from the neighboring house when they got foreclosed on... Its a good thing I did cause they went and tore everything out of it anyways...


Here is its first bloom. I did not notice any smell from it.
Anyone have any idea?

I got a boxwood, a spirea, lamb's ears and peonies from the house next to me when it went into foreclosure. Also a good thing 'cause the new owners ALSO ripped everything out.

You know those gardens sold those homes... go figure they rip them out because they don't want to care for such things.

I would assume its some kind of hybrid tea rose... or a knockout maybe?! How big is the whole bush? Pictures?

I'm by means NO expert... but I can always help you search.

Its not knockout the bloom is 3-4" in diameter, is about 2-3 foot high, and has 2 large stocks with smaller ones coming off.

I "kinda" took it? "kinda" too funny! but I know what you mean. I hate to see good stuff go to waste. That's why I hate going back to see places I lived in and loved after they are no longer mine. One place had a huge yard and we had a large garden with many kinds of fruit bushes and trees and they turned it in to lawn! We also had lots of perennial and rock gardens that are now LAWN!

That rose is pretty, its a shame to see it be ripped out like nothing.
You should of took some cuttings of the rose bush to start a new plant, at least it wouldn't have gone to waste too much.

How can someone have a yard with fruits and such and turn all that to just grass. Do they think growing grass is a lot more productive and fun that growing your own food. Who knows what they were thinking .
I really dont like seeing people getting rid of certain plants/trees etc.. especially when a lot of them take years to start producing/ blooming.

Hi there,

It is really difficult to identify it as there are SO MANY pink roses & often the same rose has many names (in different countries). Is it a climber or a shrub; can you remember from it's previous home? Have you got a photo of it's leaves? You say that it doesn't have a perfume -- this leads me to think it's a more modern rose, which were bred for hardiness, good looks, continuous blooming & size of flower. In the process they often lost their beautiful smell, unfortunately. I am not very expert in these varieties as I grow old-fashioned perfumed types, most of which only bloom once. I'm afraid it might be a case of trawling through all the pink roses on a specialist website with very good photos.........a very long job.

Lots of luck in your search but meanwhile enjoy it's beauty & well done for the rescue job. I have done that often & later when the new owners have gotten over their 'lawn obsession' & begun to garden 'properly'.... .....I give them back a cutting with instructions on how to grow it.........

My goats got out yesterday and ate half of all the leaves, except the newest growth :/

Its not a climber. I have a climber next to it..
The leaves are larger..


...and I took the whole plant
So I can make cuttings?
How does one do this without rooting hormones?
