Almost a year ago now a neighbor was throwing away this old four poster bed.

I loved it, it had ball and claw feet even!

Well, on Monday work finally began to make it into a garden bench for my new "Chicken TV" patio.

The supports for a seat are now finished.

And yesterday I put a primer coat of paint on it. It is sprinkling today, so my plans for painting are on hold.

You get a bonus photo there of Cherokee with his favorite toy, an old laundry detergent jug from Costco!

Looks good. You could also plant in it if you add a bottom board to it. But I think it looks great as a bench also.

It is almost finished. Need some wood for a seat. Still looking for something I can get for very little money or FREE!

Here it is all painted.

The foot is a bit different now... I painted the toenails white, and put some "highlight" dry brush strokes on the blue scroll type work on the upper foot.

VERY gorgeous!!!! I love using the old beds no one really wants any longer (full size and even 3/4 size)into benches and swings.

I did a similar thing with one last year for a daybed for my granddaughter. Found this bed at Good Will for $7 and it was solid cherry...hard as a rock to get a screw into.

I love, love, love the colors and how you painted this one...definitely draws the eye. What will you plant around it?
