Let it be known that I would have given up my meal for some other passengers even though I would have had zero intention of drinking my way from the old world to the new. I would also have ended up bringing the 40 meals down to 39 in lieu of having them wasted.

The story is probably out of date now. Nowadays they'd probably serve meals and drinks to NO ONE, claim that they were never part of the ticket price and pass a policy in the future that any passenger who could not prove that in the days before their flight they had taken a course of whatever it is you drink before a colonoscopy to clear out your system before arriving at the airport will henceforth be charged a extra fee for lavatory use and a penalty for bringing "excess weight" onto the plane.
