That is one awesome Inula specimen! We have a kind that grows at the forest opening and more open oak habitats around here which is much smaller.
Some folks like Dandelions. That's cool! There are selected domesticated varieties too.
I thought everyone loved blackberries. I understand they can take over, quite true. (where's the machete, and if I don't return by sundown from the blackberry patch call search and rescue...kidding).
Down near Potter Valley, close to that house with the huge Camelia growing all over it, is a field about 5 acres of SOLID BLACKBERRY. To go in there and pick them would require a whole crew of 30 to take a week in there with machetes!
Then again, homemade blackberry pies and cobblers, and blackberry ice cream galore.
Enough to hand out lunch desert and dinner desert for all the homeless in Mendocino county for a year. In fact, just thought of an idea. Next harvest time for them I think I'll go to the food pantry and have them get a crew of homeless or hungry volunteers to harvest them. The harvesting crew would then get FIRST DIBS on the deserts of pie, cobbler, and ice cream.
