Ginger and turmeric growers

Anyone here grow ginger or turmeric?

I just potted up and sat out my budding ginger roots. Usda zone 7a

I potted up my 1 lb of organic ginger and set outside. Have two pointy green stalks that have broke through the thin layer of soil covering the ginger roots. I've never grown ginger before, so I don't even know what it'll look like. And I don't know what to expect either.

I would like to try tumeric also. Perhaps next year I will.

The goal is to be able to produce my own health drink. This storebought drink really helps me, although its a bit too sweet.
