I have made arrangements with a landscaping company to take their green waste, a home brewer (maybe more soon) to get the spent grains and a horse riding school to take their manure - If I can't turn this decomposed granite around I am going to die!!! How do them darn gophers get through this?????

My plan is to take everything down to the chicken yard and pile it and let them pick through and turn it for me then move it around to different areas of the yard. I may even keep it as a heavy mulch where they can't get to to help keep the watering down (going through almost 3500 gallons a month).

Wow Gnome..you are into heavy duty composting. All that good stuff should make a big difference in your soil. You sure use alot of water. How big is your garden? and where do you live?
