Too funny. Sounds a little like me on some gardening endeavors. I'm lucky my husband doesn't notice my spending on my hobby. :p

See, you can turn this around:

Use weedkiller from the get-go!

And, from my own research gained by driving by ... homeowners often just walk around in their yards and use a cheap squirt bottle. Best of all, 9 out of 10 people do not wear gloves!

Cheap & effective ...

Steve!

That reminds me of our cherry tree. I purchased one that had a 5 variety graft about 3 years ago. The firt year 2 of the graft branches died. last year the 3 remaining branches had tons of blossums on them ... I had a tremendous harvest of TWO cherries from one of the branches. This year all 3 branches had dozens of blossoms, but only 3 cherries were developing on one branch. About 2 weeks ago, a strong wind broke off one of the branches and took off quite a bit of the bark and some outer layers as the branch fell. Lo and behold the main 3"+ diameter trunk was riddled with dead / rotting wood... I dug up the cherry tree to put it out of it's missery. :barnie
