The New York Times has a interesting article July 24 on grain free dog food. They blame it on diet heavy in peas, lentils. chickpeas and potatoes. (So send all these foods to Africa to feed hungry)

Looks like the known issue is taurine deficiency, with a still as of yet unknown factor. Very interesting.
