We are in the midst of regrading our backyard and correcting drainage. That of course, means overhauling a fairly dead lawn. We will be having topsoil delivered in February so we can seed the lawn in March. But I have no idea how to pick a grass seed. My requirements are:
1. We are in zone 6 (Maryland)
2. The yard is fairly shady most of the day. About 1/3 of it gets direct late afternoon sun.
3. I really, really, really don't want to water it (we're on a well).
4. While we're having topsoil brought in (as much as we can afford), the exisitng underlayer is heavy clay.
What seed (or mixture of seed) might do the best?
Thanks,
Inchworm
