Good Morning @Dean Reedy We are almost neighbors! DH and I live 10 miles north of Davenport. We live in a smallish town and have a 2 acre lot out of town for fruit trees, flowers and vegetables. FREEZING today. How about you? What town are you close too?

Welcome from the San Francisco bay area where I garden year round. I think we've been getting some of your vortex weather cause it's been in the mid 50's here. Hot house flowers can't take that cold!

So do you live with the black fertile Iowa soil or the real black, fertile Iowa soil? Or the this is so fertile that I grow fertile soil?

A big welcome from me too, the last 15 -20 years I've been growing mostly heirlooms. My main interest the last 10 or so years has been in collecting, sharing and growing heirloom beans with a few other things thrown in the mix.
