has anyone grown yellow eyed peas

I planted seeds I bought at a fruit stand and was told they were yellow eyed peas. I thought they would be like blackeyed peas which don't need staking. Well all of the sudden they started shooting out climbers like pole beans. I don't have a way to stake them in the raised bed so they are kind of crawling. Anyway they are producing what looks like a green bean.

Has anyone grown these that can tell me what to expect? Can I cook the young ones like green beans then let some of them form into peas.

I have looked all over the interet and not been able to find anything on growing them
