Health Benefits From A Weed

I remember helping my grandmother pick it. She was always cooking with it. She used to make a dish kind of like chile verde and she would put purslane in it. It was so good.

I got the garden kids to learn to identify 3 edible weeds, and eat them, last summer. It was weird enough for them to really get a kick out of it, and now and then when they were weeding you could see a kid pause, look at the weed they pulled and then take a bite. Too funny! They didn't seem to mind the grit they got along with it either, haha.

We call it pearpear,,and it comes when we call so that must be it's name. I had both the red and gold upright. But I may have lost one. We cook it like spinach and put lemon and sometimes Madzoon (yogurt) Or again makes a good omlet with lemon squeezed on.


And pearpear in not a weed! It is Noble!
