Now I recently saw a similar ID on here and someone mentioned Clematis. Do you think this is too? Every other house in the neighborhood had these growing up their mailboxes... could this be a seedling from one of those? I would love to plant a few around if it is. What do you think?

Enh, possibly. I can't see well enough in those photos to say much for sure. Clematis usually have some slightly-asymmetrical leaves (with a suggestion of an indentation somewhere along the edge), whereas those look pretty much 'leaf-shaped' in the pic... OTOH, they are arranged in opposite pairs, which clematis leaves are, and look too pointy for honeysuckle vines (?). I really dunno. Either take more photos, or let it grow up a while and see what it looks like then ;)

Good luck, have fun,

Pat

I say plant them and wait and see!! Don't you have another mystery plant in your veggie garden! If the vine turns into something awful, you can always pull it out!

Yeah, I got a LOT of mystery plants actually. I have some I am pretty sure are native species I've been reading about so I haven't bothered with those. Generally, we've been cleaning out around the pond and the woods... battling trumpet vine. Now new things are coming back, like wild geranium is everywhere here and I found some of this vine growing up where I planted some cone flower. The vine looks a little beat up, but most leaves are in sets of three on the vine with is kinda red. Could be honeysuckle, I have several varieties around here.

What concerns me is the roots! The roots is like a nut shape (almond) and the roots come off of that. I'm trying to figure out what kind of vine starts from that?

I transplanted it for now.... I will get better photos. These were taken outside at sunset with my cellphone since I was out transplanting some things. Its the far end of the property, so long walk to get a camera and hope to still have light when I got back :/
